Clinical Training and Internship

The Psychology Institute of Las Vegas, PLLC (PILV) offers training opportunities for doctoral students currently pursuing degrees in clinical and counseling psychology. PILV’s Advanced Fieldwork Placement, Pre-doctoral Internship, and Post-doctoral Psychology Assistant programs offer a variety of opportunities for graduate students to gain direct service hours through providing psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and various evaluative services.  PILV has an impressive group of licensed psychologists who are approved Clinical Supervisors with the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners (NBOPE).  Our training opportunities are designed to support doctoral students who meet the full requirements for licensure as a psychologist in the State of Nevada.

PILV Advanced Fieldwork Placement - Psychology Trainee

PILV offers an Advanced Fieldwork Placement that provides a clinical practicum opportunity which is heavily focused on psychological assessment.  Very often, doctoral students preparing for internships and licensure have scarce opportunities for training and experience in psychological and neuropsychological assessment.  PILV offers this Advanced Fieldwork Placement for doctoral students interested in gaining direct clinical hours in standardized assessment to increase their clinical competencies and highlight the psychometric work that is unique to clinical psychologists.  The Advanced Fieldwork Trainee will learn administration, scoring, interpretation, and case formulation interventions for a variety of standardized assessment protocols. Additionally, Trainees will have the opportunity to offer psychotherapy services and carry a small caseload if appropriate.

Graduate students who have completed their course in psychological assessment, and who are currently enrolled in at least their second or third year of a doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, are eligible.  The Advanced Fieldwork Training experience consists of a one-year, 20 hour per week, field placement in which the Trainee will gain experience in providing psychological assessment services to the elderly, adult, adolescent, and child populations, while under the training and supervision of an onsite licensed psychologist.  Psychology Trainees receive in-depth preparation and experience in neuropsychological assessment approaches and master the skills required of a proficient psychometrist. Psychology Trainees are given the opportunities to learn various competencies in neuropsychological assessments and receive both individual and group supervision weekly.  Opportunities to attend both on and off-site didactic trainings centering on evidence-based diagnostics, standardized assessments, and various treatment approaches are also offered throughout the year.

Applicants should contact Dr. Moreggi with the following attachments:

  • A cover letter outlining previous experience and specific interest in the Advanced Fieldwork Placement in Psychological Assessment.

  • Updated CV, with contact information for three professional references, including at least two familiar with your clinical work.

  • An unofficial copy of your graduate transcripts.

Once materials are submitted for review, we will notify applicants of selection for an interview within 5-7 business days.  If selected, interviews will be conducted in-person at PILV and may be conducted virtually for out of State applicants.

Advanced Fieldwork Placement must be registered with the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners (NBOPE) and students must obtain a license number as a Psychological Trainee. It is strongly recommended that prospective applicants begin the application process with the NBOPE as soon as possible, as a Psychology Trainee license number is required prior to a start date. Please review the required documents and application process via the NBOPE website - https://psyexam.nv.gov/Forms/Psychological_Trainee/
