Dr. Danielle Moreggi founded the Psychology Institute of Las Vegas, PLLC (PILV), during the height of the Covid Pandemic in early 2020. Through her trusted leadership she was able to establish a group of exceptional clinical professionals and has grown PILV into one of the most respected and successful mental health practices in the Las Vegas area. PILV is a psychology practice that is focused on providing psychological and neuropsychological assessment, psychotherapy, and providing training for other mental health professionals and interns. Dr. Moreggi is a NBOPE approved supervisor and now primarily serves as the Director of Clinical Training at PILV. Dr. Moreggi is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist originally from the State of Connecticut. She earned a BA in Clinical/Community Psychology from the University of New Haven (UNH) in 1994, an MS in Clinical Psychology in 1997, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2000 from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology- Palo Alto University (PAU). Dr. Moreggi’s early career research interests were on, “How drug expectancies shape addiction” and her dissertation topic was on, “The Impact of Awareness on Positive and Negative Drug Expectancies”. She completed a Pre-Doctoral Internship at the University of Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2000, she then returned to Connecticut and began a 15-year career as a Student Affairs professional. Dr. Moreggi became a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Connecticut in 2002, and held various leadership positions over the years. For over 15 years she served students at the University of New Haven (UNH), teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate psychology programs and working as a Licensed Psychologist in Student Affairs. Known for her expertise in teaching Abnormal Psychology and Psychological Assessment, she also specialized in providing clinical services to college students, student athletes, and worked primarily with young adults who survived childhood-sexual trauma. Dr. Moreggi was consistently rated as one of the most highly ranked professors within the Psychology Department at UNH and later became a full-time professor in the Forensic Psychology Department. During that time, she also maintained a successful private practice providing psychological and forensic assessments, and became a nationally recognized professional trainer in the areas of Co-occurring Disorders and in Understanding and Utilizing the DSM-5. She has testified as a psychological expert for a variety of forensic cases regarding criminal intent, child-custody evaluations, and has served as an expert witness on various topics related to psychological evidence. In 2015, Dr. Moreggi became a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Nevada and served at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) as the Interim Director for both Counseling and Disability Services (CAPS & DRC). While at CSN, she also became a National Certified Threat-Assessment Administrator through the National Association for Behavioral Interventions and Threat Assessment (NaBITA). During her 18 years working in higher education, Dr. Moreggi served on a variety of administrative, academic, and student focused groups and developed and served on the Behavioral Intervention Teams (BIT) and Substance Use Task Forces at both UNH and CSN. Dr. Moreggi has been described by others to be a transformational leader in her theoretical approach to organizational management and is known by her peers to be a “professor at heart”. She continues to experience true joy in teaching psychology to all developmental levels of the mental health profession. She is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced licensed mental health professionals in the Las Vegas area whose clinical expertise continues to be in the areas of assessment, chronic medical conditions, and trauma-focused psychotherapy. She continues to remain focused on providing professional training services, forensic psychology consultative services, and is the contracted mental health professional for professional athletic organizations in the Las Vegas area. Personally, Dr. Moreggi has a passion for ancient architecture, creative arts, and is a true fan of the Star Wars anthology because of its Jungian psychological archetypes. She is a lover of music, enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and appreciates the art of storytelling and writing. Her favorite place in the world is in the Caribbean, known for its beautiful beach landscapes, healing ocean waters, and gourmet cuisine.
