PILV Pre-Doctoral Internship - Psychology Intern

The Psychology Institute of Las Vegas (PILV) is currently accepting applications for full-time, one-year (2000 hr.), predoctoral internship positions for the 2023-2024 internship year. PILV’s doctoral internship training is focused on providing the opportunity for students to master the required knowledge of the practice of psychology in order to prepare interns for post-graduate practice and licensure. The pre-doctoral internship provides an advanced training opportunity designed to provide intensive and supervised experience in the following areas: clinical practice, assessment, professional identity, and diversity and multiculturalism. Psychology Interns will acquire these competencies through a broad range of professional experiences including individual and group supervision, didactic seminars, psychometric training, consultation, and case presentations.

Psychology Interns will have the opportunity to provide equitable and affirming psychotherapy and assessment services to adults, children, and adolescents.  The Psychology Internship program at PILV provides a systematic training approach that emphasizes the Practitioner-Scientist model and prepares students for the practice of psychology in a private practice professional setting.  PILV’s training and mission is committed to providing interns with the highest quality of supervision to enhance their clinical development.  Psychology Interns will receive weekly supervision from NV board-approved, licensed psychologists working within the framework of the Developmental/Ecological/Problem-Solving (DEP) model of supervision.

A typical week will include 20 hours of direct service (psychotherapy and assessment services), 4 hours of clinical supervision, 6 hours of document writing and treatment planning, 1 hour of supervision of practicum and/or advanced trainees, 2 hours of research activities, and 6 hours of administrative flex time and professional development opportunities. The Psychology Intern will be provided with their own private office space and consultative/supervision is available beyond the regular scheduled supervision hours to provide support when needed.

Pre-doctoral interns will be required to register as a Psychological Intern with the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners (NBOPE). It is recommended that prospective applicants begin the application process as soon as possible, as licensure as a Psychology Intern is required before a start date. Please review the required documents and application process via the NBOPE website - https://psyexam.nv.gov/Forms/Psychological/

Applicants should contact Dr. Moreggi with the following attachments:

  • Cover letter with outlined experiences and interests

  • Updated CV, with contact information for three professional references, including at least two familiar with your clinical work.

  • Unofficial copy of graduate transcripts

Once materials are submitted for review, we will notify applicants of selection for an interview within 5-7 business days.  If selected, interviews will be conducted in-person at PILV and may be conducted virtually for out of State applicants.

Accreditation Status

The Psychology Institute of Las Vegas is in the application phase for membership with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).  With the development of APPIC approval, currently, PILV’s doctoral internship and postdoctoral positions meet the standards of the Nevada Psychological Board of Psychological Examiners requirements for licensure in the State of Nevada.
